The Lunigiana Region of Tuscany

Tuscany for 2 holiday accommodation for two in Lunigiana

Lunigiana lies in northern Tuscany, between Liguria on the coast and the hinterland of EmiliaRomagna. The region was formerly the fiefdom of the Malaspina family, and is characterised by their castles or fortessas, most notably at Fosdinovo, Aulla, Pontremoli, Carrara and many more.
Each village, and there are many, holds a summer festa, ranging from medieval playacting in Gragnola to feasting in Tavernelle.  All worth a look!

Within an easy drive or train journey you will find the cities of Lucca, Pisa, Florence, the beautiful towns of Fosdinovo and Sarzana, and the local administrative centres of Massa and Carrara.  The coastal wonders of the Cinque Terre villages, Lerici, and the ferry to Portovenere and Portofino are all only an hour away, down the mountain.

The essence of Italy – wonderful landscapes, good food and a warm Italian welcome.
